Transitional Housing Services for Teenage Mothers and Their Children
{-ORGANIZATION'S MISSION-}
Through the ministry of transitional housing, education and support systems, Almost Home provides a safe and compassionate environment where young mothers who are lving on the margins of society today are empowered to develop their emotional, social, economic, academic, and family skills to become self-sufficient, responsible adults and care giving parents to their children, positively affecting future generations.
{-PROGRAM DESCRIPTION-}
The goals at Almost Home are to ensure that the teenage mothers (ages 12-19) and their children are getting direct care, which includes housing, food and personal needs. Our mothers must commit to finishing their basic –level education, either through high school or a GED program, and are encouraged to continue their education at college or vocational school. They learn life skills through on-site life and job skills training four nights each week. Therapeutic counseling, both group and individual, is also required. The mothers are allowed to stay at Almost Home for two years or more.
